Longstay Travel Insurance is the ideal choice if you are a backpacker, taking a gap year, a break from work, or just simply want to travel the world. If you’re planning on a trip, from between 1 and 18 months, then you will need travel insurance which covers you from beginning to end. In this case, you would need to take out a Longstay Travel Insurance policy. Longstay policies are designed for travellers up to 64 years of age, who are looking to cover their next adventure.
Terms and Conditions Apply. Please see our Policy Wording for full details.
Cover for working abroad, for example bar or restaurant work, is included automatically. However, we do not provide cover for manual labour, which we define as work involving the lifting or carrying of heavy items in excess of 25Kg, work at a higher level than two storeys or any form of work underground. Our policies are suitable for people studying and/or working abroad – subject to the work not being manual labour which is above two stories high or work below ground. For more information, our longstay policy wording has more details.
Yes, our Longstay Travel Insurance policy has the option to add the ‘return home extension’ cover, whereby you can take two return trips home, just in case you get homesick or want to spend Christmas with your family. As long as the return trips are no longer than 21 days each, your cover will not be affected.
Longstay Travel Insurance is intended for people taking longer than average trips abroad, for 1 – 18 months. Multi Trip insurance is best for people who are planning to take multiple trips during a 12-month period, but each trip will be limited to 31, 45 or 60 days in total duration.
* Working abroad excludes manual labour, which is defined as work involving the lifting or carrying of heavy items in excess of 25Kg, work at a higher level than two storeys or any form of work underground.
** The return home extension cover allows you to make 2 return visits to the UK, Channel Islands or BFPO during the policy period, for an additional premium. However, you must be aware of the following conditions that will apply should you choose to use this option:
*** The stop over extension cover under Policy B allows you to stop over outside your chosen geographical area for a maximum of 31 days in total providing you have purchased the extension and paid an additional premium.
